Track vessel activity with configurable, secure, and offshore-ready technology.
Fangstr VMS gives you a complete vessel tracking solution that’s easy to install, built to last, and ready for any conditions at sea. The system provides continuous coverage through GSM and Iridium satellite networks, offering real-time visibility and reliable compliance for fishing vessels of all sizes. All position data is available in map view through Operator Maps, giving monitoring teams full oversight at any time.
Beyond basic tracking, we offer powerful features like customizable geofences and location-based reporting intervals. Whether you need position updates every 10 minutes offshore or just once a day while docked, Fangstr VMS adapts to your needs. Combined with Fangstr Connect, crews can report directly from mobile devices even outside cellular range, keeping vessels connected under all conditions.
Trusted hardware, easy setup, and seamless integration with your reporting systems.
The Fangstr VMS unit is a compact, IP68-rated GNSS tracker built for reliable reporting in demanding marine environments. It supports both GSM and Iridium satellite networks, ensuring continuous position reporting regardless of coverage. The unit allows connection to Fangstr Connect via RS-232, a stable and proven serial communication standard used to transmit data between onboard systems.
Geofence zones can be configured to control how often a vessel reports its position, based on where it is operating. This allows vessels to report more frequently in high-priority areas and less often when stationary or docked. Geofences can also be used to trigger alerts when a vessel enters, exits, or moves within a defined area, enabling more focused monitoring while maintaining compliance with reporting requirements.
Fangstr Connect is an onboard communication bridge designed to extend the capabilities of the vessel’s VMS system. It connects to the Fangstr VMS unit using RS-232, and allows devices to pair with it via Bluetooth. This setup enables the secure transmission of ERS messages from phones/tablets when the vessel is operating outside of mobile coverage.
Fangstr Connect is not required for all vessels, but it becomes essential when satellite-based ERS transmission is needed. In areas where GSM coverage is unavailable, Fangstr Connect ensures that messages created in the Fangstr ERS app are routed through the VMS and sent via satellite. This provides full flexibility for fleet operations, allowing vessels to remain compliant with reporting requirements regardless of location. The device is compact, easy to install, and built for reliable use in marine environments.
Fangstr Connect acts as the bridge between the vessel’s VMS and the crew’s reporting device. The VMS connects to Fangstr Connect using RS-232, and reporting devices connect via Bluetooth. This allows fishermen to send ERS messages from their preferred reporting device (android/iOS phone or tablet), even when they’re out of mobile range. The messages are then sent to shore through satellite, ensuring reliable reporting from anywhere at sea.
Our VMS system is designed for fast setup and long-term reliability. We provide all the necessary hardware, clear installation guidance, and ongoing support. Once installed, the system runs with minimal maintenance and remote assistance is always available when needed.
